Common Retaining Wall Types and Materials:
- Gravity Walls:
Rely on their own mass (weight) to hold back the soil. They are generally built from heavy materials like concrete blocks, stone, or precast units. These are suitable for shorter walls - Reinforced Walls (Geogrid):
For taller walls or challenging soil conditions, layers of geogrid (a stabilising mesh) are incorporated into the backfill to create a stable soil mass - Materials:
Options include concrete blocks, poured concrete, treated timber, boulders, and bricks.
